The black streaking on an asphalt roof is algae, not dirt, and it does not come off with pressure. What it needs is a chemical soft wash that kills the growth at the root so it stops spreading across the shingles.
High pressure on a roof strips the granules that protect the shingle and shortens the life of the roof, which is why we never use it. The solution goes on at low pressure, does its work, and rinses off. The staining keeps fading for a few weeks afterwards as the dead growth washes away with the rain.
Roofs shaded by trees need doing more often than roofs in full sun. We will tell you honestly if yours does not need it yet.
